RCL MacDonald Branch 183 would like to thank Norm Dunsmoor for the donation of the Finlayson WW1 medals.
This collection consists of the Memorial Cross GRV issued as a memento of personal loss and sacrifice
to John Stanley Finlayson's parents William and Olive Finlayson. John was killed on August 30,1918 at age
20. He is buried at Sun Quarry Cemetery Cherisy, France.
The other medals in the collection belonged to John's brother, Stewart. They are the
Victory Medal and the British War Medal as well as the Army Class A pin and his dogtags.
This collection was given to Norm by Marie Patterson, sister to John and Stewart for safe keeping
.
We are very honoured that Norm has now entrusted these invaluable items for us to display and treasure
at Branch 183.
